Brief Summary :

On July 29th the Austrian Head and Neck Society (ATHNS) together with “Leben mit Krebs” (“Live with cancer”), a patient support society held a WHNCD Symposium “News in head and neck cancer”.

The Symposium was organized in two parts. The lectures of the first part were given to Laypersons and patients with head and neck cancer, the lectures of the second part were for Otorhinolaryngologists and general practitioners.

Symposium 2019 was opened by Prof. G. Kornek, medical director of the General Hospital of Vienna and president of the Society “Leben mit Krebs”.

Lectures were given on topics like “risk factors for head and neck cancer”, “Primary diagnosis of head and neck cancer”,  “Live after laryngectomy/tracheostomy”, “proton beam therapy”, “medical oncology”, “robotic surgery in head and neck” or “dental problems after radiation therapy”.

Lecturers from different parts of Austria included Dr. D. Thurnher (Medical University of Graz), Drs. M. Brunner, G. Heiduschka, T. Füreder, G. Altorjai (Medical University of Vienna), Dr. E Kukla (University Dental Clinic Vienna), Dr. P. Georg (MedAustron Wr. Neustadt) and Dr. A. Strobl (Ordensklinikum Linz).
