Brief Summary :
The 43nd annual congress of the Japan society for Head and Neck Cancer (JSHNC) was held from June 13th to June 14th in Kanazawa, Japan, organized by Prof. Yoshizaki. The session about head and neck cancer registry was held as an event of the WHNCD.The JSHNC has been conducting head and neck cancer registry since 2012 (HNC project). In 2017 we set up the data and monitoring center to keep information accurate under the support of the Japan Agency for Medical Research and Development. The number of registry covers about 40% of all new patients with head and neck cancer in Japan. Some clinical Studies have already been operated using this registry system. In this session the results of the retrospective study, `the study on optimal treatment of HPV-related oropharyngeal carcinoma’ was reported. Prof. Nibu, the former president of the ASHNO, moderated the symposium. Over 1,300 participants, including HN surgeons, medical oncologists, radiation oncologists, maxillofacial surgeons, nurses and therapists attended the congress. I'm sure the WHNCD has become more popular in Japan.
