Brief Summary :

Narayana Superspeciality Hospita and cancer institute Howrah organized an extensive program on this World Head and Neck cancer day. On 27th we launched a support group for head and neck cancer patients. The group will lobby with the policy makers on tobacco related issues, help the survivors and also help in raising funds for the patients. The event was attended by many survivors, patients and given extensive coverage in media. On the other two days a workshop cum CME was organized on thyroid cancer titled FERCON-2017. It had both local and national faculty sharing their knowledge on this disease. The event comprised lectures, debates, quiz and video presentations. It was attended by almost 100 delegates which comprised head and neck, ENT and general surgeons.

Media Coverage :

The event was well covered in local and state media. It was given good coverage in all the leading newspapers and news channels of the state. The launch of the support group was attended by about 25 correspondents from all over West Bengal. It was very helpful in making the people aware about head and neck cancers and adverse effects of tobacco.
